This agreement establishes a framework for collaboration, recognizing traditional rights and committing to sustainable development and transparency. Approved by the Gaaman, the highest traditional authority, the MOU includes an initial US$10,000 contribution from Miata to support the Fund's operational readiness. It serves as a precursor to a formal Mutual Benefits Agreement. Miata, which currently holds a 70% interest in the project, aims to acquire full ownership. The company highlighted its ongoing efforts to integrate local community members into its workforce, with the majority of its exploration field team comprising Okanisi personnel. Concurrently, Miata provided updates on technical progress, including the completion of an initial environmental desktop study and the commencement of metallurgical testwork.
