A man identified as Abdul Wahab was miraculously rescued alive from the rubble of a marble mine collapse in the Darang area of Rustam tehsil, Mardan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sixteen days after the incident occurred. Rescue 1122 confirmed the successful operation, stating that the survivor was extracted from a tunnel and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Mardan Medical Complex. The original collapse on March 31 resulted in the deaths of eight workers and injuries to three others. Initially, one deceased victim was also misidentified as Abdul Wahab from Mohmand district, leading to confusion. Authorities now fear that Khyber, a laborer from Mohmand who was reported missing, may have perished in the disaster. In response to the identification discrepancies, the Mardan deputy commissioner and Rescue 1122’s district emergency officer have formed a committee to investigate the incident and verify the identities of all victims. The mining department and local district administration assisted in the extensive rescue efforts, which have now concluded with the recovery of Abdul Wahab.
