Malaysia is set to host the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025 (SCEKL25), the inaugural Southeast Asian edition of the globally renowned Smart City Expo World Congress Barcelona. Scheduled for September 17-19, 2025, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the event aims to position Malaysia as a leading hub for smart city innovation and digital transformation. Organized by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) under the Ministry of Digital, the expo features the theme “AI Cities: Shaping Our Digital Future.” It focuses on four strategic pillars: AI Cities, Sustainable and Resilient Cities, Digital Entrepreneurship, and Community Empowerment. The event aligns with Malaysia’s National Physical Plan to become a Smart Nation by 2040 and supports the ASEAN Master Plan on Connectivity 2025.
