Lynk & Co Launches First All-Electric SUV in Europe Amid Rising Tariffs
Lynk & Co, the joint venture brand owned by Geely and Volvo, has officially announced the launch of its first all-electric sports utility vehicle, the Lynk & Co 02, in the European market. This strategic move comes at a challenging time, as the European Commission is set to impose additional tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports. The compact SUV is priced starting at €35,495 ($38,800) and offers a driving range of 445 kilometers on a single charge. It features advanced battery technology capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. Currently, the vehicle will be manufactured in China and exported to Europe, subjecting it to an extra 18.8% duty on top of the existing 10% tariff, a measure expected to remain definitive for five years starting in November. While the European launch proceeds, the same model will be released in China later under the name Z20, with a significantly lower price range between RMB 170,000 and RMB 200,000. This launch highlights the complex dynamics of global EV trade and pricing strategies amidst geopolitical economic pressures.
