Leopard Strays into Mysuru Home, Captured Safely by Forest Authorities

A leopard estimated to be three to four years old strayed into a residential home in Siddhartha Layout, located in the heart of Mysuru city, on Friday. The incident began around 8 a.m. when a house help discovered the animal hiding under a cot while cleaning a room. She immediately alerted the homeowners, Suresh and Sujatha, who contacted the authorities. Forest personnel responded promptly to the scene and successfully captured the leopard without causing harm to the animal or the residents. This operation brought immense relief to the family and the surrounding neighborhood, which had been on high alert following the sighting. Forest authorities suspect that the leopard may have wandered down from the nearby Chamundi Hills, a well-known habitat for leopards in the region. The safe capture highlights the effectiveness of local wildlife management protocols in handling human-wildlife conflict situations in urban areas. No injuries were reported during the incident, and the animal was secured for further assessment and potential release back into its natural habitat.
