Landis Raises $40M Series B Led by GV to Expand Homeownership Coaching
Landis, a New York-based proptech startup dedicated to helping renters transition into homeownership, has successfully raised $40 million in Series B funding. The investment round was led by GV (formerly Google Ventures) and included participation from existing investors such as Sequoia Capital, Arrive, and Second Century Ventures. This latest infusion brings Landis' total funding to $222 million, following a significant $165 million Series A raised in July 2021. The company plans to utilize these funds to accelerate growth, expand its operational footprint, and specifically enhance its personalized coaching program, with $2 million earmarked for this purpose. Landis operates on a unique model where it purchases homes with all-cash offers on behalf of clients, who then rent the property for up to two years while receiving financial coaching to improve credit and save for down payments. Eventually, clients repurchase the home at a pre-set price. Since its previous funding round, Landis has expanded to over 50 markets and seen a sevenfold increase in applications, demonstrating strong market demand for its innovative approach to making homeownership more accessible.
