Kerala Dental Faculty Seek Anticipatory Bail in Student Death Case

Two faculty members from Kannur Dental College, Dr. M.K. Ram and Dr. Sangeeta Nambiar, have filed for anticipatory bail at the Thalassery District Sessions Court in connection with the death of BDS student Nithin Raj R.L. The accused, who are currently absconding, deny any involvement in the student's demise. In their legal plea, they argue that Nithin Raj’s death was a suicide driven by severe stress resulting from threats by an online loan application, rather than any actions taken by the college staff. Dr. Ram specifically claims he was not present in the principal’s office on the day of the incident. Nithin Raj was found dead on April 10 after allegedly jumping from a building on the college campus in Anjarakandy. The move for bail comes amidst growing public criticism regarding the delay in arresting the accused faculty members. This case highlights ongoing concerns about student welfare, institutional accountability, and the impact of digital lending harassment in the region.
