A 25-year-old man named Naveen, a coconut trader from Choodenahalli in Karnataka's Anekal taluk, died from severe burn injuries two weeks after allegedly being set on fire by his father-in-law and brother-in-law. The incident occurred on April 14, following marital disputes between Naveen and his wife, Suchitra, who had moved to her parents' home in Janata Colony. When Naveen visited to persuade her to return, an argument escalated. Police report that the father-in-law, Sampangi, poured petrol on Naveen, while the brother-in-law, Munesh, ignited him. Naveen was initially treated at a local hospital before being transferred for advanced care. Before succumbing to his injuries on May 2, he provided a dying declaration accusing his wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law of the attack. The Bengaluru district police arrested Sampangi and Munesh, converting the initial attempt-to-murder case into a murder investigation. Authorities are currently investigating the alleged involvement of Naveen's wife and mother-in-law in the crime.
