Kanjirappally Diocese Launches Golden Jubilee Celebrations with Eparchial Assembly

The Kanjirappally Diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church is set to commence its Golden Jubilee celebrations on May 12, 2026, marking 50 years since its establishment in 1977. The festivities will kick off with a five-day eparchial assembly held at Marian College Kuttikkanam in Idukki, from May 12 to 16. Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil will inaugurate the event, while Bishop Mar Jose Pulickal will preside over discussions involving 180 members addressing various diocesan issues. Former Bishop Mar Mathew Arackal will deliver a message, and Archbishop Mar Thomas Tharayil is scheduled to give the keynote speech at the closing ceremony. Following the assembly, jubilee flags will be hoisted across all parishes on May 17 to initiate local celebrations. The year-long commemoration includes a mega meet planned for January 26, 2027, in Kanjirappally, with the jubilee year concluding on May 12, 2027. Established by Pope Paul VI, the diocese serves communities in Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki districts, primarily comprising settled farmers.
