'Kalasa Yatra' Marks Somnath Swabhiman Parv at Srisailam Temple

Nearly 1,000 devotees participated in the 'Kalasa Yatra' procession at the Sri Bhramarambha Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh, as part of the 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv' celebrations. The event, held on May 11, 2026, was jointly organized by the State Endowments Department and the Union Ministry of Culture to commemorate two significant historical milestones: the 1,000th anniversary of the attack on the Somnath temple and the 75th anniversary of its reconstruction. The day-long festivities included traditional rituals such as 'Sahasra Kalasa Aradhana' and 'Kalasabhishekam' dedicated to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy. Devotees carried sacred pots through various sections of the temple complex during the ceremonial procession. Additional activities featured a 'Shiva Panchakshari Nama Lekhana Yagnam,' where participants wrote sacred mantras, along with religious discourses, Shiva bhajans, and cultural performances like Perini Shiva Tandavam. The celebration highlighted the spiritual resilience and cultural heritage associated with the Somnath temple's history, drawing significant participation from priests, Vedic scholars, officials, and the general public in a display of collective religious devotion and historical remembrance.
