Kadapa MLA Attributes Almaspet Violence to Ganja Menace and Anti-Social Elements

Reddeppagari Madhavi Reddy, the Government Whip and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kadapa, has attributed the recent stone-pelting violence in Almaspet to the influence of narcotics, specifically ganja. Speaking at a media conference on May 11, 2026, alongside her husband and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) zonal coordinator R. Srinivasa Reddy, she blamed anti-social elements and hidden forces for instigating the unrest with the intent to destabilize communal harmony. Reddy emphasized that different religious communities in Kadapa have coexisted peacefully for decades and warned that those attempting to disrupt this peace would face strict legal action. She cited reliable information indicating that local youths addicted to ganja were coerced into participating in the violent incident, noting that several suspects have since been arrested. To address these issues and restore order, the MLA announced that the TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would soon launch a Safe Kadapa movement. The statement underscores the administration's resolve to protect social cohesion while tackling the underlying issue of drug abuse among youth as a catalyst for civil unrest in the district.
