The discussion focused on support programs for 34 priority goods and technologies, complementing the 27 previously addressed. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Masanao Ozaki directed officials to urgently develop effective policies to support these goals. Beyond autonomous vehicles, the government aims to capture ¥5 trillion in the vertical artificial intelligence market by 2030 and achieve significant shares in advanced metals, including 50% for aircraft engines and 80% for semiconductor circuits. Seventeen areas, such as AI robots and next-generation ships, have been selected for intensive support to enhance economic security. The government plans to compile a comprehensive new growth strategy this summer, incorporating specific investment amounts and projected economic benefits to strengthen Japan's competitive position in key technological sectors.
