Israeli settlers kill Palestinian man during raid in occupied West Bank

A 23-year-old Palestinian man, Ali Majed Hamadneh, was killed by Israeli settlers during a raid on the village of Deir Jarir in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The incident occurred on April 11, 2026, northeast of Ramallah. Hamadneh was shot and later died from his wounds at the Palestine Medical Complex. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that armed settlers, allegedly under the protection of Israeli forces, attacked the village and opened fire on residents. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the event. This killing follows closely after the Israeli government approved 34 new settlements in the West Bank, a move condemned by international bodies including the European Union and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for violating international law. Violence in the region has escalated significantly since October 2023, with a notable surge in settler attacks recently. Even some Israeli military leaders have criticized these actions as morally unacceptable. All Israeli settlements in the occupied territories are considered illegal under international law, yet their expansion continues under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration.
