The Islamabad Capital Administration has issued an amended notification revising business operating hours as part of ongoing energy conservation measures. Effective April 16, all shops, markets, and shopping malls are required to close by 8 PM throughout the week. The updated order specifically extends these restrictions to sports facilities, including clubs and gymnasiums, which must also close by 8 PM. However, certain sectors have been granted later closing times; hotels, restaurants, food outlets, grocery stores, meat and vegetable vendors, and bakeries are permitted to remain open until 10 PM. Marriage halls and venues for festive events, including those on private premises, share this 10 PM deadline. Essential services such as pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, and dairy shops are exempt from these restrictions, and there are no limitations on takeaway or home delivery services. This amendment modifies a previous order from April 6, which was initiated by the federal government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
