Iqram Shariff Assumes Charge as Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner

IAS officer Iqram Shariff of the 2016 Karnataka cadre officially assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Kalaburagi district on May 11, 2026. He succeeded B. Fouzia Taranum, who was transferred to serve as the Commissioner of the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. The formal handover ceremony took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, attended by various district-level officials including the Superintendent of Police and Zilla Panchayat CEO. Mr. Shariff, previously serving as Joint Secretary in the Finance Department, holds degrees in Economics and Public Administration. During his address, he outlined a people-friendly administrative approach, prioritizing prompt responses to public grievances. He emphasized special attention to the health and education sectors and pledged to expedite ongoing major projects. Furthermore, Shariff highlighted his strategy to attract industries that generate employment and provide skill training for local youth. He appealed to elected representatives and the public for cooperation in these development initiatives. His previous tenure as CEO of Ramanagara Zilla Panchayat was marked by improved SSLC results and a Best CEO Award, reflecting his commitment to effective governance and public service improvement in the Kalyana Karnataka region.
