IONNA Partners with Circle K to Deploy EV Rechargeries at 350+ US Stations
IONNA, a charging network founded by eight major automakers including BMW, General Motors, and Toyota, has announced a strategic partnership with convenience store chain Circle K. The collaboration aims to bring IONNA’s premium “Rechargery” experience to more than 350 Circle K locations across the United States. The rollout will begin with 85 existing sites, with the first Rechargeries expected to be operational by the end of 2026, followed by significant expansion in 2027. IONNA will take over operations of Circle K’s current charging infrastructure, upgrading them to include enhanced amenities such as canopies, improved lighting for nighttime safety, driver lounges, and food options. This initiative is designed to accelerate the deployment of high-speed electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure by leveraging existing retail footprints, thereby bypassing lengthy permitting processes. The partnership underscores a broader industry trend toward integrating reliable, high-power charging with convenient retail experiences. IONNA currently operates 108 locations and aims to deploy 30,000 chargers by 2030. Circle K executives highlighted the synergy between fast charging and their customer-focused retail model, marking a significant step in preparing for the future of EV adoption in the US market.
