The Intelligence and Criminal Investigation (I & CI) wing of the Income Tax Department organized an outreach programme in Salem on May 11, 2026. Conducted under the guidance of the Directorate of I & CI for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, the event was led by G.K. Ram Narayan and other officials. The primary objective was to assist reporting entities in achieving error-free filing of Forms 61, 61A, and 61B, which are used for statements of financial transactions. Additionally, the session provided critical guidance on responding to notices issued under the e-Verification Scheme 2021 and addressed provisions within the new Income Tax Act, 2025, including PAN validation protocols. Officials offered hands-on training and shared best practices for maintaining compliance and navigating the filing process effectively. The programme attracted approximately 125 attendees, comprising 75 employees and officers from the Co-operative Sub Registrar office in Salem, as well as various auditors and accountants. This initiative highlights the department's effort to enhance taxpayer compliance and streamline administrative processes through direct engagement and educational support for local financial professionals and government staff.
