Idukki DCC Disciplinary Action Against Pro-Satheesan Activists Sparks Internal Discord

The Idukki District Congress Committee (DCC) in Kerala has removed four party activists from their positions for organizing a rally supporting V.D. Satheesan as the next Chief Minister, violating high command directives. The dismissed members include DCC general secretary V.E. Thajudheen, Thodupuzha West mandalam president Rajesh Babu, block secretary Robin Myladi, and Karshaka Thozhilali Federation State secretary Joy Myladi. The protest occurred at Mangattukavala near Thodupuzha, organized via a DCC WhatsApp group, prompting KPCC general secretary Nisha Soman to demand strict action. This decision has triggered significant internal friction within the party. Idukki MP Dean Kuriakose strongly criticized the move, labeling it unethical and highlighting a double standard, as similar protests elsewhere in the state did not result in disciplinary measures. Kuriakose emphasized that grassroots workers' emotional sentiments and contributions to the party's recent electoral victory should be respected. He argued that senior leaders making public statements faced no consequences, unlike these local activists.
