Huawei Unveils World's Most Powerful SuperPoDs and SuperClusters at HUAWEI CONNECT 2025
At the opening of HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei unveiled what it claims are the world’s most powerful SuperPoDs and SuperClusters, emphasizing computing power as the core of AI development. Eric Xu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman, stated that these innovations aim to meet long-term demand sustainably. The company introduced the Atlas 950 SuperPoD, featuring 8,192 Ascend NPUs, and the Atlas 960 SuperPoD with 15,488 Ascend NPUs, both offering enhanced performance in computing, memory, and interconnect bandwidth. Additionally, Huawei launched the Atlas 950 SuperCluster with over 500,000 NPUs and the Atlas 960 SuperCluster with more than 1 million NPUs, asserting superior performance compared to existing large-scale clusters. Huawei also released the TaiShan 950 SuperPoD, the world’s first general-purpose computing SuperPoD designed to replace mainframes and high-end database servers when paired with GaussDB. To address interconnect bottlenecks, the UnifiedBus 2.0 protocol was introduced to foster an open ecosystem with industry partners. These advancements position Huawei to provide abundant computing power for the future of AI.
