Honor Repositions as AI-Driven Tech Ecosystem with New Alpha Strategy
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor has officially repositioned itself from a hardware-focused device maker to an AI-driven tech ecosystem company. Announced at its AI Ecosystem Conference on October 23, the new direction is anchored by the "Alpha Strategy," which outlines a three-phase roadmap progressing from smart devices to connected ecosystems and ultimately an intelligent world. Chairman Wu Hui emphasized that AI-powered intelligent agents will serve as the next major interface for human-computer interaction, supported by over ¥10 billion ($1.37 billion) in AI research and development investments. Product Line President Fang Fei introduced the "1×3×N" framework, featuring one open platform, three key enablers, and multiple industry clusters. Through the HONOR AI Connect platform, the company will offer free device connectivity and zero licensing fees to partners, while also leveraging its 3,000 physical retail stores to enhance partner sales and customer experiences. Honor plans to expand this AI ecosystem globally, with initial expansion efforts focused on Europe and Southeast Asia. This strategic shift marks a significant evolution in Honor's business model, aiming to integrate deeply into the broader Internet of Things (IoT) landscape through open collaboration and aggressive technological investment.
