Minimum temperatures will likely remain between 22°C and 28°C. Relief is anticipated only around May 22-25, when pre-monsoon showers are expected to arrive following the onset of monsoon activity in the Bay of Bengal. Additionally, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services has issued a bulletin warning of an 80-90% probability of El Niño becoming the dominant phase from May 2026 through January 2027. This climate phenomenon could adversely affect Indian monsoon rainfall, cause prolonged marine heatwaves, and damage ecological balances, including coral reefs and the fishery industry.
