The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced a comprehensive summer action plan with a budget of approximately ₹25 crore to ensure uninterrupted water supply across Visakhapatnam. Commissioner Ketan Garg revealed that the plan encompasses 98 specific works, including repairing leakages, drilling new borewells, restoring defunct ones, and deploying water tankers. These initiatives follow surveys conducted in all 98 wards to identify vulnerable areas. To enhance responsiveness, a dedicated toll-free number will be introduced for residents to report water-related complaints, with a resolution target of six to eight hours. During the press conference, Garg also highlighted a 22% increase in tax collection, reaching ₹620 crore, and outlined improvements in sanitation, such as deploying 570 new workers and introducing 50 e-autorickshaws.
