Grievance Redressal Meetings Resume at Coimbatore Collectorate After Election Hiatus

The weekly grievance redressal meetings, chaired by the District Collector, resumed at the Coimbatore Collectorate on May 11, 2026. These sessions had been suspended since March 15 due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for recent elections. During the resumed meeting, over 200 petitions were submitted by members of the public addressing various local issues. Significant concerns were raised by farmers from Ermunai Ilaingar Ani, who sought enhanced compensation for crop damage caused by recent adverse weather conditions, arguing that current rates for banana, coconut, and arecanut losses were inadequate. Additionally, members of the Hindu Munnani filed a petition alleging irregularities and legal violations in the construction of a CSI building in Ganapathy on disputed land. Another group, comprising shareholders and members of the Thudiyalur Cooperative Agricultural Service Society, demanded action against an official accused of forcing staff into personal domestic service. The administration received these complaints for review, marking the return of regular public interface mechanisms in the district following the election period.
