Dominic Frimpong, a 20-year-old winger for Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League, was killed during an armed robbery attack on his team's bus. The incident occurred on a Sunday as the team traveled home from an away match against Samartex in Samreboi. According to statements from the club and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), masked gunmen wielding assault rifles blocked the road between Goaso and Bibiani and opened fire on the vehicle. Players and staff were forced to flee into nearby bushes for safety. The GFA expressed profound shock and sorrow, describing Frimpong as a promising young talent whose death is a significant loss to Ghanaian football. In response to this tragedy, the association announced plans to strengthen security arrangements for clubs traveling for domestic competitions.
