Geely and Dongfeng to Integrate DeepSeek AI into EVs
Chinese automotive giants Geely and Dongfeng are set to become the first in the industry to integrate DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence models into their in-vehicle information and entertainment systems. This strategic move targets their respective electric vehicle brands, Zeekr and Voyah, aiming to capitalize on the rapidly growing AI trend. Dongfeng’s premium brand, Voyah, announced that owners of its latest Zhiyin electric crossovers will access DeepSeek’s expanding AI database through over-the-air updates starting February 14. This makes the Zhiyin the first production model to support the latest version of the home-grown AI startup’s technology. Simultaneously, Geely’s Zeekr revealed that DeepSeek’s R1 reasoning model has been integrated into its AI Eva voice assistant. According to Zeekr Vice President Jiang Jun, this integration will allow vehicles to provide information and connect to controls in a more personalized and proactive manner. DeepSeek, a Hangzhou-based startup also headquartered in Geely’s home city, recently launched a competitive large language model chatbot developed at a significantly lower cost than existing services.
