Four Killed in Head-On Collision Between SUV and Truck in Coimbatore

A fatal road accident occurred on the Pollachi–Palladam Road at Negamam in the Coimbatore district on May 11, 2026, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. The incident involved a head-on collision between a sport utility vehicle (SUV) carrying five passengers and a truck. The deceased have been identified as K. Dhanapal (37), his wife D. Menaga (35), their daughter Kaniska (17), and Menaga’s niece Sneha (23). Dhanapal’s son, 12-year-old D. Surjith, survived with severe injuries and was transferred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for treatment. Police reports indicate the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. while the SUV was traveling toward Palladam. The impact was severe enough to mangle the vehicle and trap occupants inside. Authorities have arrested the truck driver, M. Saravanan (39), on charges of negligent driving. The bodies of the victims were moved to the Pollachi Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and an official investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident has been launched by the Negamam police.
