Former President Wulff Highlights Choirs as Bridge-Builders at Leipzig Festival Premiere

Leipzig is set to host the nationwide choir festival “chor.com” for the first time this autumn, running from October 1st to 4th. The event will feature over 150 workshops, three master classes, and 20 concerts, serving as a major gathering for the German choir scene. Additionally, an exhibitor fair at the Leipzig Zoo congress hall will showcase projects from approximately 60 music publishers, technology providers, and educational institutions. Former Federal President Christian Wulff, who also serves as the President of the German Choir Association, emphasized the festival's motto: “Building Bridges – how choral music creates new connections.” Wulff stated that choirs possess a unique strength in fostering unity within groups and across society, particularly as social rifts deepen. He highlighted that singing together enables the connection of diverse cultures, social backgrounds, and perspectives. Organized by the German Choir Association since 2011, the biennial festival previously took place in Dortmund and Hanover before making its debut in Leipzig. This announcement underscores the cultural significance of choral music in promoting social cohesion and community engagement through artistic expression.
