Father Alleges Foul Play in Daughter's Death at Krosuru Police Station

Tension has erupted in Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh, after a father accused police of foul play regarding his daughter's death at the Krosuru police station. The deceased woman had previously filed a complaint in 2021 against constable P. Venkateswara Reddy, alleging he engaged in an extramarital relationship with her and refused to marry her despite assurances. On May 5, 2026, she was called to the station for an inquiry into this matter. Later that day, she was found dead on the premises. Palnadu Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao stated that the woman appeared weak upon arrival, vomited after being offered food, and accidentally fell from the first floor, suffering seizures before being declared dead at a hospital. The family initially refused to take custody of the body, suspecting suspicious circumstances, but eventually accepted it. Investigations into the incident are currently underway. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding police conduct and accountability in the region, especially given the victim's prior legal action against a serving officer.
