Farmers Rally in Telangana Demanding Legal Guarantee for MSP
Scores of farmers participated in a rally organized by the Akhila Bharata Aikya Rythu Sangham (AIUKS) in Yellandu, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, on Monday. The demonstration was held to mark the first national conference of the AIUKS and aimed to demand a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) along with the implementation of the C2 + 50% formula. Participants included farmers from various parts of the tribal-dominated district and AIUKS leaders from states such as Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Karnataka. Prominent figures leading the rally included AIUKS national leader Pradeep Singh Tagore, national convenor Kechela Ranga Reddy, CPI (M) State secretary Potu Ranga Rao, and former MLA Gummadi Narsaiah. During the subsequent public meeting, Mr. Ranga Reddy criticized the BJP-led Central government, alleging that 'anti-farmer' and 'pro-imperialist' policies implemented over the last twelve years have deepened the agricultural crisis. He emphasized the urgent need to build a strong mass movement to protect the agriculture sector and safeguard farmers' interests against these perceived adverse policies.
