Farmer Electrocuted by Snapped Power Line Near Rajapalayam

A tragic incident occurred near Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu, where a 53-year-old farmer, M. Thavasimuthu, was electrocuted to death on Monday morning. The victim, a resident of Koviloor near Devadanam, was traveling to his farm when he inadvertently came into contact with an overhead electric cable that had snapped due to heavy winds overnight. Reports indicate that Thavasimuthu stepped on the live wire around 7 a.m., resulting in immediate fatal electrocution. Despite the early occurrence of the accident, his body was not discovered until approximately 10 a.m. by local residents who found him lying on the ground. Emergency responders and police personnel rushed to the scene upon notification. The deceased's body was subsequently transported to the Government Hospital in Rajapalayam for post-mortem examination and formalities. The Seithur police have officially registered a case regarding the incident. This event highlights the dangers posed by damaged infrastructure following severe weather conditions and underscores the need for prompt maintenance and public awareness regarding electrical safety in rural agricultural areas.
