UN Experts Condemn Attacks on Gaza Shelters and Forced Displacement in West Bank

United Nations human rights experts have strongly condemned Israeli attacks on displaced Palestinians in Gaza and forced displacement measures in the occupied West Bank. In a statement issued by the UN Human Rights Council, the panel detailed incidents from March where Israeli air strikes destroyed tents housing displaced civilians, resulting in numerous deaths. The experts described these actions as part of a cycle intended to make life unbearable for Palestinians, amounting to forcible transfer and ethnic cleansing. They highlighted severe humanitarian conditions, including hunger and lack of basic services, disproportionately affecting women and children. Furthermore, the panel criticized the escalation of violence in the West Bank, driven by the Israeli military and settler groups, which has displaced over 36,000 Palestinians in 2025. The experts urged Israel to end all forced displacement and facilitate safe returns, while calling on international states to uphold legal obligations and cease assistance to Israel until accountability is established. The panel included special rapporteurs such as Francesca Albanese, who emphasized that targeting known shelter areas constitutes a grave breach of international humanitarian law.
