EUFOR Patrol Rescues Two from Severe Road Accident in Bosnia
On May 8th, a European Union Force (EUFOR) patrol comprising personnel from the Turkish and North Macedonian armies executed a swift rescue operation following a severe traffic accident on the Gračanica–Tuzla road. Around 2 PM, a Volkswagen Golf lost control between the 24th and 25th kilometers of the roadway, veering off and striking trees near a roadside culvert. The vehicle ended up diagonally positioned with two occupants, a male and a female, partially submerged in flowing water. Fearing the car might slip further, the occupants attempted to escape while civilians tried to stabilize the vehicle by holding its wheels. EUFOR teams responded immediately, exercising caution due to suspected fractures sustained by the female occupant. Using a ladder as a makeshift stretcher, they carefully extricated her to prevent additional injuries. Both individuals were successfully rescued. EUFOR commended its personnel for their prompt response and effective teamwork, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents on local roadways. This incident highlights the ongoing role of international forces in providing emergency assistance and maintaining public safety in the region.
