The Dominican Republic is actively seeking to adopt best practices from Guatemala to enhance its support systems for returned migrants. Geanilda Vásquez, who serves as the pro tempore president of the Central American Integration System, led a delegation to Guatemala on May 11 and 12 to study the country’s comprehensive "Return to Home Plan." This initiative provides humanitarian assistance and reintegration support, including medical care, documentation, education, job placement, and psychosocial services. The Dominican government aims to develop a national model for receiving and reintegrating returnees based on these regional insights.
