Doctor Hails Midwives and Nurses as True Healers at Hubballi Event

During the inauguration of the International Day of the Midwife at KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences in Hubballi, consultant obstetrician Dr. Seema Shyam Bhairi emphasized the critical role of midwives and nurses in healthcare. Speaking under the theme 'One Million More Midwives,' Dr. Bhairi stated that while doctors diagnose and treat diseases, midwives serve as true healers through compassionate care, counseling, and emotional support. She highlighted their silent courage and therapeutic touch as essential for safe births and maternal confidence. Shobha A. Mudaraddi, president of the IMA Ladies Wing, added that a hospital's reputation relies on the dedication and empathy of its nursing staff rather than just infrastructure. Deepak Bagi, an advanced critical care practitioner from the U.K., noted that skilled midwives are powerful leaders capable of transforming global maternal healthcare through clinical excellence and research. Principal Sanjay M. Peerapur concluded by stressing the need for midwives empowered with exceptional knowledge, skill, and confidence.
