Delhi ITIs to Undergo Modernization with State-of-the-Art Labs to Match Industry Standards

The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has announced a comprehensive modernization plan for Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to align vocational training with current industry standards. The initiative involves establishing state-of-the-art laboratories in four key institutes: ITI Jahangirpuri, ITI Jail Road, ITI Nizamuddin, and ITI Mayur Vihar. Specific upgrades include a power electronics lab at Jahangirpuri featuring PLC kits and renewable energy systems; a comprehensive welder lab upgrade at Jail Road with advanced simulation tools; automotive labs at Nizamuddin equipped with virtual reality simulators for driving and repair; and a new electric vehicle lab at Mayur Vihar focusing on battery management and charging infrastructure. Aimed at enhancing employability and technical proficiency, the project supports the Central government’s Skill India vision. This development follows the March budget announcement allocating ₹720 crore for technical education infrastructure expansion and the establishment of Centres of Excellence across several other Delhi ITIs. The move seeks to provide trainees with hands-on experience in modern industrial practices, fostering both employment and self-employment opportunities in evolving sectors like clean mobility and industrial automation.
