15 Dead, Over 15 Injured as Bus Plunges Off Road in Jammu’s Udhampur

A tragic road accident occurred on April 20, 2026, in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in at least 15 deaths and approximately 16 injuries. The incident took place around 10 a.m. in the hilly Ramnagar area when a passenger bus traveling from Ramnagar to Udhampur failed to negotiate a sharp turn in Kagort village. According to Shiv Kumar Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of the Udhampur-Reasi Range, the vehicle lost control and rolled down a slope of 60 to 70 feet, colliding with a three-wheeler during its descent. Local residents and teams from multiple security agencies collaborated immediately to rescue victims and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. High-ranking officials, including J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressed deep sorrow and directed administrative, police, and health departments to provide comprehensive assistance. Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed that rescue operations were prompt and arrangements were being made to airlift seriously injured patients for advanced medical care.
