DCP Ordered to Supervise Probe into PoCSO Case in Hyderabad

The Cyberabad Police Commissioner has directed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kukatpally Zone) Ritiraj to personally supervise the investigation into a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) case registered at the Petbasheerabad police station. The case stems from a complaint by a 17-year-old girl alleging sexual abuse during New Year celebrations at a farmhouse in Moinabad. Official orders issued on May 11, 2026, mandate that the investigation be conducted fairly and professionally, with the DCP required to submit daily status reports to the Commissioner. The case is registered under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 12 of the PoCSO Act. Additionally, the Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter due to widespread media attention, directing the police to initiate necessary action and provide a priority status report. This development occurs amidst ongoing protests by women’s groups demanding swift justice. Police officials stated that all aspects of the complaint are being examined thoroughly to ensure no negligence occurs during the probe.
