College Student Dies in Bike Accident in Salem

A tragic road accident occurred in Salem, Tamil Nadu, on the night of May 10, 2026, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old college student and leaving another individual with grievous injuries. The deceased has been identified as D. Kishore, a first-year engineering student at a private college and a resident of Nainampatti near Attaiyampatti. The incident took place when Kishore, traveling by motorcycle from Attaiyampatti to Kakkapalayam, collided with another bike driven by P. Manoj, a 20-year-old third-year polytechnic student from Koolipatti, at Kandarkulamanickam. Both riders sustained severe injuries during the collision. Kishore was rushed to Salem Government Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that night. Manoj was admitted to a private hospital in Tiruchengode for treatment. Following the incident, the Attaiyampatti police registered a case and have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash. This event highlights ongoing road safety concerns in the region, involving young students and resulting in a fatal outcome for one of the parties involved.
