AP Child Rights Commission to Visit Victim's Home in Pastor Assault Case

The Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has taken suo motu cognizance of a severe sexual assault case involving a minor girl and a church pastor in Eluru district. The commission announced that its chairperson and a member will visit the victim's residence on May 11, 2026, to assess the situation. Police allege that Pastor Choutapalli Rambabu exploited his regular access to the family to repeatedly sexually abuse the minor over several months while threatening her. The crime came to light when the girl fell ill and was hospitalized, where doctors discovered she was pregnant. In an attempt to suppress the incident, the accused allegedly administered excessive doses of abortion pills to the victim, causing severe bleeding and critical health complications. The case has sparked widespread concern across Andhra Pradesh regarding child safety and the abuse of religious authority. The APSCPCR is actively investigating the matter to ensure justice and protect the rights of the child survivor.
