Census Staff Conduct Late-Night Visits to Cover Locked Homes in Central Corporation

In Bengaluru, census enumerators are conducting late-evening and late-night visits to households within the Central City Corporation limits to ensure comprehensive coverage for the ongoing House Listing and Housing Census exercise. This initiative is part of the first phase of the Census 2027 preparations. The intensified efforts aim to meet strict deadlines, as a significant number of residences remain inaccessible during standard daytime hours because residents are away at work or otherwise unavailable. Additional Commissioner (Development) Daljeet Kumar announced that these late-night enumeration drives have been operational for the past four days and will continue until the deadline is met. To maintain data accuracy and prevent errors, charge officers and officials from the Revenue Department have been instructed to accompany enumerators. Their role involves cross-checking houses previously marked as locked before finalizing their status in the survey records. This strategic adjustment highlights the administrative challenges in urban census taking and the measures being implemented to achieve full household participation and accurate demographic data collection in the region.
