CCTV Cameras and PA System Installed at Thoothukudi Bus Stand

The Thoothukudi District Superintendent of Police, C. Madhan, officially inaugurated a new security infrastructure project at the Anna Bus Stand in Thoothukudi. The initiative involves the installation of 37 CCTV surveillance cameras strategically placed across the premises, including passenger waiting areas and boarding points, alongside a comprehensive Public Address (PA) system. These measures are specifically designed to enhance the safety and security of women and children using the facility. The integrated system allows police personnel to monitor feeds and operate the PA system directly from a modern control room located at the Thoothukudi south police station. This setup aims to facilitate rapid response capabilities and improve public awareness among commuters through timely alerts. The entire project was funded by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. By leveraging technology for public safety, local authorities aim to create a more secure environment for daily travelers. The inauguration marks a significant step in upgrading public transport infrastructure security in the region, demonstrating a collaboration between local law enforcement and private sector funding to address community safety concerns effectively.
