CBI Raids Punjab Vigilance Office in Mohali Over Alleged Bribery Racket

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a late-night raid on the Punjab Vigilance office in Mohali, resulting in the arrest of several suspected middlemen. The operation was part of an ongoing probe into an alleged bribery transaction valued at approximately 20 lakh rupees. Officials stated that these intermediaries were collecting bribes on behalf of a senior officer within the Vigilance Department, who is currently absconding and unresponsive to communication attempts. During the raid, the CBI reportedly recovered 13 lakh rupees. The incident has triggered significant political backlash, with Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia criticizing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Majithia asserted that corruption is being exposed from top to bottom in Punjab and argued that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann lacks the moral authority to continue in his role.
