Chinese automotive giant BYD has officially launched its first vehicle equipped with Huawei’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), marking a significant collaboration between the two technology leaders. The new model, named Bao 8, is a plug-in hybrid electric SUV under BYD’s Fangchengbao off-road marque. It is priced between RMB 379,800 and RMB 407,800 (approximately $52,602 to $56,480). The vehicle utilizes Huawei’s latest Advanced Driving System (ADS), which enables automated driving capabilities from garage to garage, including navigating toll gates across various Chinese cities and provinces. The Bao 8 offers an electric-only range of 100 kilometers and a combined range of 1,200 kilometers on a full tank and charge. This launch follows the successful market entry of the Bao 5, which recorded year-to-date sales of 36,449 units as of October.
