Brandenburg Police Record Nearly 1,800 Speeding Violations During Control Week

During a coordinated 'speed camera marathon' held on Wednesday as part of a broader week of action from April 13 to 19, police in the German state of Brandenburg detected approximately 1,790 speeding violations. Authorities utilized both manual stop controls and automated monitoring technology to inspect around 40,000 vehicles throughout the day. A police spokeswoman highlighted that 28 of these offenses were severe enough to warrant driving bans. Additionally, 1,033 violations occurred on avenue-like streets outside built-up areas. Statistical data reveals that 76 people died in traffic accidents outside built-up areas in Brandenburg in 2025, marking an increase from the 63 fatalities recorded in the previous year.
