Bomb Scare in Punjab Temple Area Caused by Abandoned E-Scooter

A significant security alert and public panic erupted in Tarn Taran, Punjab, after an electric scooter was discovered abandoned near the prominent Thakurdwara temple. The vehicle, found with its trunk open and keys still inside, raised immediate suspicions of a potential bomb threat among devotees and locals. In response, police swiftly established a security cordon, evacuated the vicinity, closed nearby shops, and halted pedestrian movement to ensure public safety. A bomb disposal squad was urgently dispatched from Amritsar, although their arrival was delayed by approximately two hours. During this period, the area remained sealed for about two and a half hours, causing considerable disruption. The situation was resolved when the owner, Rajat Gupta, a local bicycle seller, arrived and explained that he had inadvertently left the scooter unlocked while rushing to join a friend. Although no explosive materials were found and no criminal conspiracy was detected, authorities treated the negligence seriously. The Tarn Taran Senior Superintendent of Police emphasized the dangers of such carelessness in sensitive zones and urged citizens to report suspicious items promptly while advising drivers to remain vigilant.
