J.S. Bindra Appointed Chairperson of Visakhapatnam Port Authority

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has officially approved the appointment of Jasmeet Singh Bindra as the new Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA). Mr. Bindra, a distinguished 1997-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), will assume the role at the Joint Secretary level under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, his tenure is established for a period of five years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier. In this capacity, Mr. Bindra succeeds M. Angamuthu, a 2002-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer belonging to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, who previously held the position. This strategic appointment highlights the government's continued focus on strengthening leadership within India's major port infrastructure. The Visakhapatnam Port Authority plays a critical role in maritime trade and logistics on the eastern coast of India, making this leadership transition significant for ongoing operational and developmental initiatives within the sector.
