Bebuling STOLport in Sarawak Set for June Completion
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas announced that the RM248 million Bebuling Short Take-Off and Landing (STOLport) project in Spaoh, Betong, is nearing completion and expected to be fully operational by June. During a site inspection, Uggah confirmed that only minor works remain, highlighting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak government's commitment to delivering on development promises. He noted that post-construction technical procedures, including flight testing, are required before the facility opens. The STOLport aims to boost connectivity, tourism, and economic growth in the region. Additionally, Uggah provided updates on other local infrastructure projects, including a covered pedestrian bridge at SK Nanga Gayau, scheduled for completion in September to enhance student safety along the Pan Borneo Highway. He also outlined plans to transform Bukit Sadok into a major tourism landmark by preserving its historical significance as the former stronghold of Iban warrior Rentap. These initiatives reflect broader efforts to improve rural infrastructure and promote sustainable tourism in the Betong Division.
