BAS.MY Kuching has officially launched six new bus routes to enhance public transport accessibility, efficiency, and comfort in the region. The new services, which began operations on April 1, include routes Q11 through Q16, connecting key areas such as Arang Road, Taman Hui Sing, Siburan, Summer Mall, Stutong Baru, and Taman Sukma to central hubs like Saujana Bus Terminal and Kuching Open Air Market. During the launch event, Transport Minister Anthony Loke urged residents to prioritize public transport, highlighting its potential to positively impact Kuching’s future. Since its inception in March of the previous year, the service has recorded over 847,000 passengers and 15,000 concession card registrations. To further encourage usage, the government reduced the 30-day unlimited pass price for Malaysian citizens from RM50 to RM30. Additionally, eligibility for the BAS.MY Concession Card has been expanded to include Form 6 students and trainees at government-owned training institutes, benefiting thousands of learners. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities continue to enjoy free travel. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the federal government and Transport Ministry to improve urban mobility and social inclusion in Sarawak.
