Li Auto Launches Pre-sales for Second All-Electric SUV, the i8
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto has officially commenced pre-sales for its second all-electric model, the i8. The company announced a pre-sale price range of RMB 350,000 to RMB 400,000 (approximately $48,755 to $55,720). The vehicle is scheduled to arrive in showrooms across China starting Friday, with an official launch date set for July 29. The i8 is a large six or seven-seater sports utility vehicle designed to compete with rivals such as NIO’s Onvo L90, Lynk & Co’s 900, and the Tesla Model Y long-wheelbase variant. Measuring five meters in length with a 3,050-millimeter wheelbase, the i8 sits size-wise between Li Auto’s hybrid L8 and flagship L9 models. It offers two variants providing driving ranges of 670 kilometers and 720 kilometers on a single charge. This release marks a significant step in Li Auto's expansion of its pure electric lineup, following the debut of its first battery EV, the Mega van, which saw deliveries exceed 11,000 units last year. The new model aims to capture market share in the premium family SUV segment by offering spacious interiors and consistent comfort across all three rows.
