Armaguard Van Robbed at Gunpoint North of Brisbane; Suspect Arrested

An Armaguard armored cash transport van was robbed at gunpoint in Hervey Bay, located north of Brisbane, Queensland. The incident occurred around 6:30 am on Tuesday at the Ibis Street shopping centre. A male suspect approached the vehicle and engaged in a skirmish with the security officer. Both individuals were armed during the confrontation, and the security officer discharged a firearm, though no injuries were reported. The thief escaped with a significant quantity of cash in an orange Ford Ranger. Police intercepted the vehicle approximately one hour later on Craignish Road, about 10 kilometres from the initial crime scene. The suspect was taken into custody, although formal charges had not yet been laid at the time of the report. Authorities established crime scenes at both the shopping centre and the interception location.
